Students’ Karting Cup was conceptualized in 2012, by TWOTONE EVENTS and PRODRIVE SPORTS SERVICES, with the idea of bringing karting – as a sport – to the forefront of a generation that believed in the need for speed. While the thrills of speed and racing were tangible, SKC aimed at putting that speed into the hands of responsible drivers, and creating a generation that was aware of the perils of driving without rules.
The principle of the championship is to ensure that as many students as possible enjoy karting and introduce motorsport discipline and fundamentals to aspiring racers and newcomers. The championship achieves this by providing karts to all the young drivers to race on what is known as ‘arrive-and- drive’ kart racing. This reduces the cost of competing in a sport that is otherwise considered expensive and inaccessible.
